In today’s competitive entertainment industry, talent alone is not enough to guarantee success. Whether you are a musician, actor, visual artist, comedian, or performer of any kind, effective communication with the media and public is essential for building your career. A well-crafted Press Release serves as one of the most powerful tools in an artist’s promotional arsenal.
A Press Release immediately elevates your professional image. When journalists, venue owners, or industry professionals receive a polished Press Release, they perceive you as a serious artist who understands the business side of entertainment. This credibility can open doors that might otherwise remain closed to emerging talents. It demonstrates that you are prepared, organized, and ready for opportunities that come your way.
Every artist has a story to tell, and a Press Release allows you to shape that narrative on your own terms. Rather than leaving journalists to interpret your work or background, you provide them with accurate information, key messages, and the angle you want emphasized. This control ensures that your brand identity remains consistent across all media coverage and public communications.
Press Releases are essential for announcing significant events in your career. Album releases, art exhibitions, tour dates, award nominations, collaborations, and special performances all deserve proper attention. Without a formal announcement, these achievements may go unnoticed by media outlets that could amplify your message to thousands or even millions of potential fans.
Journalists and bloggers receive countless pitches daily. A professional Press Release cuts through the noise by presenting information in a format they recognize and appreciate. It contains all the essential details they need to write a story, including quotes, background information, and contact details. This efficiency increases the likelihood that your news will be picked up and shared with their audiences.
In the digital age, Press Releases contribute significantly to your online visibility. When distributed through proper channels, they appear in search engine results, news aggregators, and industry publications. This exposure improves your search engine optimization and helps potential fans discover your work when searching for related content online.
Press Releases serve as official records of your career milestones and achievements. They can be compiled into press kits, shared with potential managers or agents, and referenced when applying for grants or residencies. This documentation proves invaluable when demonstrating your track record to industry gatekeepers.
A strategically timed Press Release can create excitement around upcoming projects. By announcing events weeks or months in advance, you give fans and media time to plan coverage, share information, and build anticipation. This momentum can significantly impact ticket sales, streaming numbers, or gallery attendance.
Press Releases often reach beyond traditional media to industry professionals, booking agents, and potential collaborators. A compelling announcement about your latest project might catch the attention of someone who can advance your career in unexpected ways.
Compared to advertising and paid promotions, Press Releases offer remarkable value. The potential for earned media coverage through a single well-written Press Release can exceed the reach of expensive marketing campaigns, making it an accessible tool for artists at every budget level.
In an industry where visibility determines success, entertainers and artists cannot afford to overlook the power of Press Releases. They build credibility, control narratives, reach media efficiently, and create lasting documentation of your artistic journey. Whether you are just starting out or have an established career, incorporating Press Releases into your promotional strategy is a wise investment in your future success. Take the time to work with professionals who can help you communicate your artistic vision to the world!!!

Dora “Dor Jar” Jarkowski

Hollywood, California, March 3rd, 2026 — Island Records is proud to unveil “No Way to Relax When You Are on Fire,” the highly anticipated debut album from genre-bending singer, songwriter, and producer Dora Jar.
Released worldwide, the 12-song collection captures an artist blazing her own trail through the modern pop landscape, fusing bedroom intimacy, theatrical storytelling, and volcanic guitar energy into a singular sound unlike anything else in 2024.
Across 45 breathless minutes, Dora explores the thrill and turbulence of self-discovery, pairing crystalline melodies with lyrics that slip nimbly between wonder, humor, and hard-won wisdom. Recorded in Los Angeles, New York, and Warsaw with long-time collaborator Solomonophonic, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solomonophonic and a handful of hand-picked co-producers, the album marks the culmination of a three-year ascent that has carried the 27-year-old from homemade demos to arena stages.
Dora describes the record as “A sonic diary of trying to stay calm when everything inside you is sparking,” adding, “I wanted every track to feel like a match being struck—brief, bright, and full of potential to start its own little blaze.”
Born Dora Jarkowski on October 12, 1996, in Manhattan, New York, this special artist moved with her family to California’s Bay Area at age four. Her mother—a New York stage actor—filled the house with show tunes, while her father counter-balanced Broadway melodies by whistling operatic arias and spinning Beatles records on the stereo. Dora often snuck off with her mom’s cassette recorder, patching together homemade songs long before she knew what “production” even meant. By 14 she had saved enough allowance to purchase her first acoustic guitar, learning Foo Fighters riffs after school and writing her own material during study hall at a tiny Episcopal academy outside of Berkeley.
Dora’s desire to stretch creatively led her to Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, where she graduated in 2015. A brief stint at Berklee Conservatory of Music in Boston https://www.berklee.edu/ followed, but Dora soon realized that real-world experimentation suited her better than traditional coursework. She withdrew, bounced between New York, London, family supporters in Poland, and built a library of voice-notes that would later surface across her earliest releases.
2021’s Digital Meadow—seven tracks recorded largely in bedrooms with producer and multi-instrumentalist Solomonophonic—quietly appeared on streaming platforms and promptly caught attention for its otherworldly textures and gently surreal lyricism. NPR praised the project’s ability to feel “cosmic and close-knit all at once,” while NME spotlighted Dora as “a name you’ll be hearing all year.”
One year later she doubled down, comfortably in pain, expanding her palette to include crunchy guitars and skittering drum programming. Critics drew loose lines to Faye Webster’s vulnerability and St. Vincent’s experimental edge, yet agreed Dora’s voice—sometimes airy as a lullaby, sometimes sharp enough to slice through distortion—was unmistakably her own. Vogue included her in its influential “22 Rising Musicians Set to Rule 2022” list; Alternative Press stamped her as one of the year’s breakout “Rising Artists.”
Touring opportunities arrived just as quickly. First came a run of U.S. dates supporting The Neighbourhood, followed by coveted slots on Billie Eilish’s 2022 “Happier Than Ever” arena tour. Summer 2023 saw her front of tens of thousands as direct support for The 1975’s “Still… At Their Very Best” North American leg. Those experiences informed the widescreen scope of her debut LP; between soundchecks and hotel rooms she penned lyrics, road-tested new songs, and discovered a hunger for shows where, as she puts it, “the mosh pit and the bedtime story collide.”
Friends and contemporaries echo the sentiment. Conan Gray credits Dora for “pushing me to paint outside the lines,” while Remi Wolf cheekily calls her “my favorite cosmic pen pal.”
Dora has long embraced eclectic influences. Outkast’s “ATLiens” was the first CD she bought; its “galactic swagger,” she says, encouraged her to treat lyric writing like “code-switching between planets.” Her love for the Foo Fighters’ 2005 double-album “In Your Honor” spurred her guitar chops, while frequent exposure to Puccini’s soaring arias—a staple of her father’s record shelf—imbued her melodies with operatic lift. Classics from The Beatles taught her “how to say the deepest things in just three minutes,” and early obsessions with Gwen Stefani and Mary J. Blige proved that bold self-presentation can be as powerful as any hook.
At the emotional heart of “No Way to Relax…” is the memory of Dora’s sister Lueza, who lived with cerebral palsy and passed away in 2011. “She had this radiant joy that felt untouchable,” Dora shares. “When I sing, I try to channel that light.” The result is an album that doesn’t shy away from grief yet refuses to surrender to darkness. Each track flickers with playful wordplay or unexpected sonic twists—proof that sorrow and exuberance can coexist in the same breath.
Always collaborative, Dora finds kinship among a vibrant peer group that includes Arlo Parks, Ashnikko, and close friend Remi Wolf. Between tour dates she retreats to informal writing camps—often in rented cabins along California’s coast—where she and her circle trade melodies, movie quotes, and improvised poems late into the night. “The best ideas show up when no one’s watching,” she laughs. “Then we polish them until they sparkle.”
With her debut album igniting worldwide, Dora is already plotting the next adventure. Early 2025 sees her on the road with Gracie Abrams for “The Secret of Us Tour,” followed by a summer run supporting HAIM on their “I Quit Tour.” Between shows she’s carving out studio time, teasing fans with snippets of brand-new material that hint at an even bolder sonic frontier.
